St Martin’s joined in with the national celebration of the Queen’s platinum jubilee, starting with a community fun day on the 3rd June. Children were able to enjoy a bouncy castle and a crown-making competition, while the young at heart were treated to a royal-themed quiz and an afternoon tea fit for… well, a queen! A massive thank you to everyone who helped out or supported us. It was truly a fun and enjoyable day.
At our Sunday service on the 4th June, we gave thanks for the Queen’s 70 years of service, and reflected on Jesus’ words in Mark chapter 10, verses 43-44 – “whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” We are thankful to God for these words and for our Queen who knows and trusts in this truth.
