Morden Parish made 3 changes to the previous week's team, with John Goddard, James Davidson and Nadeem Anwer making a welcome return.

The visitors were inserted and raced to 25-0 in the 5th over before one of the openers edged a ball from Ben and was caught behind by Phil. A partnership of 52 followed this, so Charles and Alan were introduced into the attack and Charles made the breakthrough in his first over, inducing the other opener into an edge which was again caught by Phil. Alan also took a wicket in his first over as Morden fought back and Charles proceeded to take another 5 wickets in his next 5 overs thanks to catches from Phil, Nadeem, Russell and one from Charles himself. Russell also took another catch, this time from Alan's bowling as Staines collapsed to 126-9 in the 26th over. However, 7 overs of mayhem followed this as the last pair added 33, until Karl and Phil combined to effect a run out as Staines finished on 159. Charles finished with figures of 6-25, which is a lifetime best!

After tea, Morden lost John and Phil early. Apart from a few lusty blows from Nadeem, the bowlers were well on top for the first 15 overs as the score reached 70-6. At this point, Ben and Karl joined forces to bring Morden right back into it with a partnership of 63 runs in 10 overs. Karl made 24 including 3 fours which was his best score for the club, whilst Ben's 33 included 4 fours and took him onto 150 runs for the season already. Unfortunately, when Karl got out, the last 4 wickets fell for just 8 runs as Morden reached 141 all out which is the best score this season. 13 year old Neil Brooker was run out without facing a ball when Ian Tyne decided there was a quick single to be had. Shortly after, Russell Atkins scored his first runs of the season with a nice four edged through the slips. Ian was eventually out, bowled, as Morden narrowly lost the first ever meeting between the two Clubs by just 18 runs.
