Records and raindrops tumbled on an extraordinary afternoon as ten-man Morden were denied the victory their brilliant batting performance had deserved. Five of morden's six batsmen made their best ever score for The parish. Ben was the exception, but even he blasted three 4's in his Run-a-ball innings before an uncharacteristic early departure. Steven followed soon after but then John and Alan came together to put on 70 for the third wicket in just 13 overs. John compiled his maiden fifty for the parish off 57 balls in exactly 60 minutes and with eight 4's.

After this, Alan and James ruthlessly plundered the tiring Epsom bowlers in a partnership of 104 in only 13.5 overs. This represented only the 15th century partnership in the club's entire history, and was the 2nd highest ever for the 4th wicket (112 is the record). Alan completed his 2nd ever fifty for the parish in 70 minutes off 57 balls and with seven 4's. He was dropped whilst on 25 and went on to make a personal best, just twelve short of a ton. Alan's previous best had been 54, whereas James beat his former best 22, with a run-a-ball 40 not out, and added 47 with Charles for the 5th wicket in just 2.5 overs. James had been dropped whilst on 22, and again on 33, whilst Charles was also dropped on 22, and ended up beating his previous parish best 35 by three, his innings including three huge 6's, and took only 15 balls.

The final total of 249-4 was the second highest since the club began in 1957, just six runs short of the all time record.

After tea, Ben and Ed used the cloud cover to excellent effect, swinging the ball and reducing Epsom to 21-4 after 11 overs. However, three overs later, the heavens opened and the players left the field for about a quarter of an hour. When play resumed, batting appeared considerably easier, and seven different bowlers were tried in an attempt to break the stubborn 5th wicket pair, but without success. The game finished in a draw, Morden's third successive match unbeaten.
