Morden Parish won the toss and elected to bowl first. Their side showed two changes from the previous week, with Matt Coote playing his first game of the season, and Karl Bromley making his debut, the 407th player to represent the Club.
The Epsom opening pair were hard to remove, and the first wicket didn't fall until the 22nd over, when Griffiths edged a ball from ben onto his stumps for 43, with the score on 76. In Ben's next over, a successful lbw appeal removed the number three, leaving Epsom 78-2. Another useful partnership followed, but whereas Nadeem and Alan were proving relatively expensive, Ian Tyne came on to bowl a very economical spell, which fustrated the batsmen and eventually prompted an error. ian removed the other Epsom opener in the 32nd over, when Karl celebrated his debut by taking an excellent catch at extra cover, leaving Epsom 100-3. The last ten overs saw 54 more runs added to the total, with Ben and Alan both picking up a wicket near the end.
After tea, Ahmed and Phil made a reasonable start to the Morden innings, with a score of 17-0 after six overs. In the next over however, Phil, playing his 300th innings for the Parish, departed for 8, and James arrived at the crease. He and Ahmed batted patiently, whilst taking the score on to 24-1 after 11.4 overs. The next 44 balls produced not a single run as the wickets of James, Steve, Nadeem and Alan all fell. After this collapse, Ben started to get the runs flowing, but Ahmed, Karl and Matt all fell in quick succession as Morden reached 40-8 after 22 overs. Ian Tyne arrived at the crease next and together with Ben, added 33 for the 9th wicket, which the Parish's best stand for any wicket this season and gave the team's total a bit of respectability. Ben batted with great confidence, hitting 4 fours in his 45 not out, made of just 50 balls and this was the top score in the entire match. Ian was finally caught at mid on, and shortly after, Neil was caught at slip to end the innings on 79 all out, including 7 ducks.
