Morden slumped to a third succesive defeat thanks to a poor batting performance, the exception being John Goddard who carried his bat, only the 5th time this has happened in the club's history. Another record to be broken was for the most defeats in a season, this being the eleventh with one game remaining.

For the first 2 and 1/4 hours Morden bowled well enough and the visitors restricted Carshalton to 111 but the game turned sour at this point when the hosts tried to claim another 30 minutes batting time which they were not entitled to, and in the end, Morden started their innings before tea, reaching 23-2 off five overs at the interval. Unfortunately, Ahmed was out in the third over after tea, and this started a collapse in which Morden lost 6 wickets in 3.2 overs. The only achievements after this were that Ben's 9 took him past 250 runs for the season, and John's 25 not out took him past 150 for the season, but the final total of 50 all out was a disappointing end to an unsatisfactory afternoon.
