Morden Parish lost their seventh match of the season after deciding to bat first on a very hot day against a ten man Energy side, for whom Alan and Matt appeared as guest fielders in the early overs.

The first wicket to fall was Phil Bodman for a duck in the third over. Next, Ben and Ahmed added 17 in 10 overs before Ben was bowled for 8. Ahmed and John then added 40 in 12 overs before Ahmed was run out for 21, his highest score for the Parish. John and Phil then put on 21 in the next 4 overs, with John making 36 which was his best score of the season and took him past 100 runs this year. Phil (12), Alan (6) and James (0) sacrificed their wickets in the last few overs whilst trying to score quick runs. Morden only reached 3 figures in the penultimate over, with some tight bowling keeping the run rate for the innings down to 3 an over.

After tea, Morden knew that early wickets would be required in order to defend such a low total, but Ben and John enjoyed little luck. The first opener didn't depart until the 12th over and there was already 44 on the board. Phil Clarke came on to bowl in place of Ben and his 13th ball produced a wicket thanks to a catch by Ahmed at point. That made it 54-2 in the 15th over. The next pair added 22 before Ben returned in place of John. He struck immediately as the no.4 played on, leaving the visitors 76-3 in the 18th over. However, they required a mere 30 to win off a massive 18 overs and the was accomplished easily. Only one more wicket fell when the no.3 was caught at slip by Steve Alexander off Ben's bowling. With 3 more runs required for the win, it was too little too late...

So, with five games left this season, the leading run scorer is Ben (309), the top wicket taker is Ben (22) and the most catches is Phil Bodman and Ahmed Lewis who are tied up on 6 apiece. Additionally, there have now been 468 overs bowled in Parish cricket since the last successful lbw shout.
