Morden made their 3rd highest score in a match with record breaking batting performances which was eventually abandoned due to rain.
It did not start all that well though, with the first 5 wickets falling in 6.2 overs. This included golden ducks for Matt and Russ, which made it 10 ducks in 23 innings for him. The middle order then rallied. Phil Clarke hit a quickfire 29, the 6 courtesy of an opposition fielder throwing the ball into the tree for overthrows. Phil has now hit more than 150 runs this season. Jimbo then shared a season record stand of 89 with Alan for the 6th wicket. Jimbo's knock of 24 took him past 100 runs for the season and lasted over an hour. Paul Hancock completed the recovery by hitting 11, which was a personal best and more than he scored in his previous 22 innings added together. He faced 36 deliveries and lasted 42 minutes until the overs ran out using 3 lives. He shared in a 7th wicket season record stand of 48 with Alan Gilley, who is rapidly turning into the batting sensation of the season (more on him in the next paragraph, as it deserves one of its own).
Alan hit 98 off 85 balls in 117 minutes including 16 fours in the performance of the day. His 50 came off 43 balls. It was his highest ever score and his 3rd 50 of the season (4 in total) taking his season total past 350. He has scored more than 700 runs for the club with more than half coming this season. His 98 is the 7th highest score ever by a Parish batsman, and his season run total is currently the sixth highest ever. He requires 59 more from 7 games to take that record of 410 currently held by Peter Bassett. There are only 6 people who have scored more half centuries for the Parish and one more would equal the season record. That's it for the records...Phew!!!
Unfortunately, 2 overs wasn't enough for Ben and Ed to bowl out the Methodists leaving the rain as the victor.
