Nurturing the children and young people in the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ is a high priority for us as a church, as well as supporting parents in the key role they have in this. We have a strong group of children at St Martin’s. We seek to teach the Bible to them in age-appropriate ways with a lot of fun thrown in. Sunday Club meets most Sundays, except when we have an all-age service. As well as Sundays, we occasionally organise themed events with craft, games, songs and Bible teaching. All our teachers and helpers are subject to safeguarding checks.
We have a crèche available for children aged 0-2yrs. It takes place during the morning meeting upstairs in the gallery of the church.
Sunday Club and SMY (St Martin’s Youth)
Our Sunday Club caters for children aged 3-10 years. This term they will be finding out about Jacob and Joseph.
SMY is for young people aged 11 to 18 years and they will be exploring the books of Ruth and Philippians.
Led by a willing and capable team, these groups meet during term-time. Children and young people stay in church with their families for the start of the service and then go into their age-specific groups. They sing and learn from the Bible with games, craft and drama etc. When we have a Holy Communion service, they come back into church to receive a prayer of blessing.
Youth work is done at a Parish level, joining the young people from the four churches. Currently there are two groups:
